The Major Tom Debate   2 comments

This is our dog.

His name is Major Tom, he is 2 years old, and he is in for a rude awakening. Up until now, Major Tom has been our primary dependent, (not that we are able to claim him on our taxes), but come the end of April, Major Tom will be firmly in last place in our list of favorite family members. There are many things that Major likes to do. Some of these things we do not encourage, and some of these things we will probably stop encouraging once L’il Person arrives, such as:

Here is a list of more of Major Tom’s favorite past times:

  • Barking at neighbors, children, and old ladies.
  • Going on walks.
  • Whining to get his way.
  • Running in circles on rugs and carpets.
  • Becoming psychologically unhinged when encountering cats, squirrels, rabbits, or other dogs.
  • Getting his belly rubbed.
  • Falling asleep in someone’s lap.

So here’s our dilemma. Do we continue to show Major the same level of attention and affection and let him enjoy these next few months, or do we start preparing him now by locking him in the basement for long stretches of time with no food and water? Tune in next time to find out.

  1. 1. i love that you have a video in which you are howling to provoke more howling. i have those, too. charlie is a howler, for sure. 🙂

    2. this child that is coming had better not think that it’s going to get more attention than your first child. rude. the baby will sleep alot and when it is, you better divvy out doggie time. people who gives their dogs away and treat them like…well…animals…once a baby comes are not on my good side. :-p

    • Don’t worry, Katie. Major Tom is our first born and we will never forget it. I just hope he enjoys being a big brother…
