6 Months Old   1 comment

Millie is 6 months old today! I can hardly believe it…. where did the time go? What happened to the sleepy newborn we used to have? She has turned into the slightly less sleepy infant that we love today.

Here is what our big girl is up to these days:

  • Millie weighs 13 lbs 13 oz. She is in the 10th percentile for weight— the doctor wasn’t really worried about her weight, but she did say that we will watch it closely over the next few months to make sure she continues to gain (even if she gains slowly).
  • Millie is 26 and 1/8 inches long- 55th percentile.
  • Millie wears mostly size 3-6 month clothes, but she can still fit into some 0-3 sleepers.
  • Millie loves to squeal and giggle out loud.
  • Millie can sit up unassisted— she is doing kind of a tripod sit where she leans forward and uses her hands to balance her. It’s adorable.
  • Millie rolls from belly to back and back to belly to get around— she hasn’t figured out crawling yet (I’m ok with that!). Paula (Millie’s WONDERFUL sitter) said she is getting frustrated because she wants to be on the move so she can keep up with the other kids.
  • Millie is exclusively on formula now (it was such a hard decision to stop breastfeeding, but the switch has been great for our whole family). She takes 5 bottles a day and drinks 4-6 oz at a time.
  • Millie has eaten rice cereal, mashed banana and sweet potatoes. The doctor gave us the go ahead to introduce more foods, so carrots are next on our list.
  • Millie is still a big fan of sucking her thumb. I am not sure when to start weaning her from that… It’s still SO cute!
  • Millie still has a pretty bad case of cradle cap. The doctor told us to try a dandruff shampoo.
  • Millie is drooling a ton and I wouldn’t be surprised if a tooth broke through sometime in the next few weeks.
  • Millie goes to sleep at 7pm and usually sleeps until around 7am the next morning. She wakes up super happy and coos and squeals in her crib while waiting for us to go get her. She also takes a morning nap that lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours. She doesn’t like to take an afternoon nap during the week.
  • Millie JUST started holding her arms out to us when we go to pick her up (yet another thing that makes us say “awwwwww!”)
  • Millie seems to really like music— especially the worship music at church (that might have something to do with our worship leader… Millie LOVES Dillon).

I could go on and on and on about Millie Lou. She is such a sweet, charming baby and we are really looking forward to the next 6 months of our baby’s first year!
